Tuner Special: 188-MPH TechArt Widebody Cayman S
ESSEN, Germany — TechArt Automobildesign arrives at the annual Essen show with a fresh portfolio of high-performance Porsche products, including the Cayman S Widebody.
The Widebody, as the name implies, expands the Cayman S's girth by 3.2 inches with add-on fender flares that accommodate larger wheels and tires and provide additional cooling for the brakes and engine.
The Widebody kit includes a front spoiler with larger air intakes and a rear apron with integrated diffuser. TechArt also offers a choice of a rear wing or a smaller rear spoiler.
TechArt fits the Cayman S Widebody with Conti SportContact 2 performance tires mounted on 20-inch Formula five-spoke wheels. A height-adjustable coil-over suspension lowers ride height by up to an inch.
Several stages of engine tune are available. TechArt also offers a bump in displacement to 3.8 liters, with larger pistons, a new crank, sport camshafts and a modified intake manifold. Coupled with a high-performance stainless-steel exhaust system, the six-cylinder boxer engine delivers 385 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. TechArt claims 0-60-mph acceleration in less than 4.9 seconds, with top speed rising to 188 mph.
