Porsche 911 - 250mph ? That's so 2006
The Bugatti Veyron has opened the floodgates to a wave of cars all vying to match its 250mph top speed.
The latest entrant to this pool is the Mission 400, with the 400 standing for 400kph, which equates to 250mph.
Based on the latest Porsche 911, the Mission car has its turbocharged engine increased in capacity to 3.8 litres and power upped to a jaunty 1,054bhp.
But creators Jurgen Alzen and Motortuner RS were not content with simply pushing the engine's power to the absolute limit. Oh no, they've gone and chopped the roof down by 75mm to improve aerodynamics, if not headroom.
There are all the expected upgrades to suspension and brakes, but the car's true purpose is to go as fast as possible.
It will get the chance to prove itself at the Nardo test track in Italy in early 2007 when it will aim to pass the 250mph speed marker.
In the meantime, the Mission 400 is sat stationary at the Essen motor show.
