Saab bio power

Saab has announced the addition of a new bioethanol engine to its line-up.
The 2.3t BioPower is a modified version of Saab's 2.3-litre turbo petrol unit, and will initially be available in the 9-5 saloon and estate.

saab bio power Saab reckons the BioPower will cut fossil carbon-dioxide emissions by up to 70 per cent without any loss in performance.

In fact, the BioPower delivers 210bhp and 228lb ft of torque, giving it 14 per cent more power and 11 per cent more pull than its petrol equivalent.

Bioethanol is a green fuel produced from commercial crops that does not significantly raise atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide.

It's not yet widely available in the UK, but don't worry - if you're not near a bioethanol fuel source (and we don't recommend brewing your own), the BioPower will still run on petrol or a mixture of the two.

The new 2.3-litre engine will sit alongside Saab's existing 2.0t BioPower model.

Prices for the bioethanol 9-5 will weigh in at about £1,000 more than the equivalent petrol model.
