2008 Chevrolet Malibu Interior Goes Two-Tone
DETROIT — Chevrolet has announced that the redesigned 2008 Malibu sedan will be unveiled in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
This teaser interior shot released by the company showed an updated version of the GM brand's classic dual-cockpit design.
Chevy said the photo showed one of the car's available two-tone interiors.
"The 2008 Chevy Malibu will offer a number of striking and progressive interiors that use premium materials to demonstrate quality and value not seen before in this segment," said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager.
For '08, the front-wheel-drive Malibu will get a 6-inch-longer wheelbase than the current model and is expected to be equipped with either four- or six-cylinder engines. Styling is expected to be a bit bolder, with more angular cues patterned after those on the Chevrolet Tahoe.
"GM needs to have a strong presence in midsize cars once again," GM North America President Troy Clarke told Detroit's Automotive Press Association in a speech. "And this is the type of design that will lead us to be known as a great carmaker...not only as a great truck manufacturer that also happens to make cars.... That's another key to improving our net sales."
The new Malibu is expected to hit showrooms in mid-2007.
