Volvo Hikes Price on Redesigned 2008 V70
IRVINE, Calif. — Volvo said on Wednesday that its redesigned 2008 V70 will start at $33,210, including a $745 destination charge. That is $2,470 more than the outgoing 2007 V70.
The 2008 V70 gets a new standard engine, a 3.2-liter inline-6 that generates 235 horsepower. The base 2007 V70 is equipped with a 2.4-liter five-cylinder engine that generates 168 hp.
Standard features on the '08 V70 include what the Swedish automaker describes as "the world's first dual-stage built-in booster cushions" for children.
New for 2008 is an optional collision-avoidance package with adaptive cruise control, collision warning and lane-departure warning systems priced at $1,695.
What this means to you: You get a more powerful V70 with some state-of-the-art safety items, so the price increase shouldn't be too hard to swallow. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
