Stunning Seat Leon Body Kit at Autosport Show (UK)
Kit available from net month
SEAT bewitched crowds of show-goers at Autosport International last week, by previewing a dramatic factory-approved styling kit for the new Leon. Available from next month through the SEAT Dealer network, the aerodynamic styling kit adds even more drama and excitement to the eye-catching Leon shape.
The show car, finished in cool Luna Grey, featured a range of modifications, with new front and rear bumpers – incorporating bold vertical black grilles at each corner – striking 18” wheels and extended side skirts. At the back, an oval centrally-located exhaust pipe and extrovert spoiler at the top of the hatch add an even sportier flavour to the Leon’s pert appearance.
The kit will be available in four separate packs, in order to suit a variety of tastes and budgets, and can be fitted to any latest-generation Leon by all SEAT Dealers. The packs on offer comprise body kit only, body kit plus exhaust, body kit plus alloy wheels and tyres, or the full works – in other words, all three packs together. In addition, a choice between the oval exhaust or two separate tail pipes positioned at each rear corner, provides scope for further customisation. Prices are yet be confirmed, but are likely to start at around £1,200 for the styling kit, going up to £2,500 for the whole package (both prices RRP, ex VAT).
Reflecting SEAT brand values of sportiness and dramatic design, the new Leon is proving a big hit with buyers. Later this year, eagerly anticipated hotter models will be unveiled, including petrol and diesel versions of the second generation Leon FR. The outgoing FR, along with the Cupra, accounted for over 45 per cent of UK Leon sales over the last two years, confirming the popularity of the SEAT marque among hot hatch fans.
Motorsport devotees were treated to another rather special Leon at the Autosport extravaganza, held at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre. The mean-looking Leon touring car, finished in dazzling yellow livery, demonstrates very clearly how seriously SEAT is taking the popular British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) in 2006. Joining the race car, and on hand to meet the fans, were the members of the newly confirmed BTCC driving team: Jason Plato, James Thompson and Darren Turner.
