Audi TT: Final edition is quicker and lighter
South African "Motoring" has a nice article about the Audi TT quattro sport, which is the final edition coming to South Africa before the new Audi TT coming in 2006.
Audi SA has introduced the limited-edition TT quattro Sport first shown at the Geneva show in March 2005 as the range nears the end of its life cycle after launch in South Africa in April, 2002.
Only 28 units of this final, high-performance TT will reach South Africa - at R380 000 each with satnav and Bose sound system extra.
Audi has focused on what it calls the cars' classic performance characteristics – more output and less weight. The 1.8-litre turbo engine has been uprated from 162 to 176kW with a 20Nm increase in torque to a claimed peak of 320Nm available lower in the rev range - from 2300-5000rpm.
Audi says: "The TT quattro Sport is the purest interpretation yet of sports car philosophy in the TT.
"It represents a blend of pioneering technology and pure driving enjoyment."
