Lamborghini Alar

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — The Lamborghini Alar 777 has been officially launched in Argentina. Unfortunately, since it's too late for us to believe it's an April Fools Day joke, we must wonder if this is simply an intriguing concept gone horribly wrong.

The local press and blogs in Argentina have assured the rest of us in the Outside World that the local Lamborghini distributor has indeed launched its own unique kit car of sorts, a rebodied version of the defunct Diablo.

The Alar was designed by Joan Ferci, whose previous Diablo-based creations include the Coatl and the Eros GT-1. Under the bizarre skin, the Diablo V12 reportedly has been massaged to deliver 700 horsepower. Ferci claims a top speed of 223 miles per hour.

Local sources say the plan is to build only a few hundred vehicles — at $750,000 per copy.
