Geiger Guzzler: $168K H2 Gets Scissor Doors, Le Mans Paint
MUNICH, Germany — A blue-and-orange paint scheme, inspired by John Wyer's Le Mans-winning Ford GT40s from the mid-'60s, might seem like an anomaly on a hulking off-roader from General Motors.
And who ever thought the addition of scissor doors would make the squat Hummer H2 look like a racecar? Well...kind of like a racecar.
Never mind. Those fun-loving folks at Germany's Geiger Cars enjoy a good joke as much as the rest of us — especially if it involves Detroit iron. But Geiger didn't stop there.
Under the hood of the Geiger Cars Hummer GT is the familiar GM 6.0-liter V8. But Geiger has bolted on a supercharger and a stainless-steel exhaust system, boosting output to 548 horsepower and torque to 564 pound-feet. The Muncheners claim the beast is now capable of galloping from rest to 60 mph in less than 7.9 seconds, with a top speed of 140 mph.
To take advantage of the extra muscle, Geiger has lowered the suspension by 3.9 inches, added stiffer stabilizer bars and high-performance brakes, and fitted its own 30-inch (yes, 30-inch) chrome wheels, shod with Pirelli Scorpion Zeros.
You just want the fancy wheels and tires? That'll set you back $35,000. The whole kit and kaboodle — down to the gullwing doors and that GT40 paint job — carries a $168,000 sticker.
