Ford Announces Pricing on 2008 Taurus
DEARBORN, Mich. — The Ford Motor Co. said on Tuesday that its 2008 Taurus will start at $23,995, including a $750 destination charge. The Taurus was first introduced as a mildly redesigned Ford Five Hundred in January and was rechristened by the company to take advantage of what it sees as a more recognizable nameplate.
The Taurus pricing reflects a $210 premium over the outgoing 2007 Ford Five Hundred SEL model. The Taurus price is also $3,500 less than the 2007 Toyota Avalon XL, which starts at $27,495, including a $620 destination charge.
Ford said the all-wheel-drive version of the Taurus will start at $25,845.
Standard features on the 2008 Taurus include a 3.5-liter V6 that makes 263 horsepower and 249 pound-feet of torque linked to a six-speed automatic transmission. Other standard equipment includes traction control, an AM/FM stereo with single-CD player, and 17-inch aluminum wheels.
