Chevrolet To Recall Cobalt Coupes
DETROIT — General Motors is preparing to recall 98,707 Chevrolet Cobalt coupes that do not meet federal standards for occupant head protection.
The recall concerns Cobalt coupes from model years 2005 and 2006 that are not equipped with optional roof-mounted side impact airbags. No injuries have been connected with the recall.
GM has been installing extra padding in the coupes on the assembly line since last March. Dealers will add similar energy-absorbing plastic to the headliner to improve head protection in the 2005 and 2006 models.
