BMW Teases Nameless Joy Machine
MUNICH, Germany — BMW is talking — a little — about a new electronic device that it will unveil in a few weeks. But no one quite knows what to call it.
The company says it is Bluetooth and USB compatible, accepts voice commands and will play CDs, DVDs and MP3 files. How it fits with BMW cars, and whether it will be available on U.S. models soon, the company doesn't say.
The gadget is self-recharging and has a 65,000-color LCD screen, according to a teaser on the corporate Web site, which shows a rotating object that looks like a large iPod or a very thin portable radio. The tag line "What is your idea of joy?" has to suffice instead of actual specs or on-sale dates, although BMW does say more details will be online in mid-January.
