2007 New York Auto Show Preview: Buick To Revive "Super" Trim Level
DETROIT — Buick will revive its historic "Super" name for upcoming versions of the LaCrosse and Lucerne, a move aimed at boosting the "design, power and performance" of the vehicles, according to Buick General Manager Steve Shannon. The upgraded models are expected to make their debut at the upcoming New York International Auto Show.
Buick has yet to officially announce specifics about the new Super lineup, but the cars are expected to get more power and an upgraded chassis. Eventually, the Buick Enclave may also get a Super variant.
In an appearance before the Automotive Press Association in Detroit, Shannon also said that the brand plans to "significantly" increase the joint engineering and design of models in the U.S. and China. The joint strategy currently focuses on one unspecified model, widely reported to be the next-generation LaCrosse due at the end of the decade.
