New Vauxhall Astra
For Friday amusement, take a look at this picture of the 'new' Vauxhall Astra and compare it with a picture of the 'old' Astra. Voila, an instant game of spot the difference.
Without spoiling your fun, Vauxhall has pointed out that there are new front and rear lights, a new front bumper and a smattering of chrome highlights.
The biggest changes are the ones you won't spot from just staring at the Astra because they're under the bonnet, in the shape of more emissions-friendly engines.
The 1.6-litre engine is revised to drop carbon dioxide emissions from 158g/km to 156g/km, while gaining 10bhp to produce 113bhp.
More importantly, there's a new turbocharged 1.6-litre motor with 177bhp to replace the old 167bhp 2.0-litre turbo.
This engine hauls the Astra from 0-62mph in 7.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 137mph.
Prices for the standard 1.6 Astra start at £13,515 and the turbo kicks off at £18,200.
The rest of the range goes up by £15, which hardly seems worth Vauxhall's while reprinting all of those brochures.
