Jaguar, Cadillac Top Sales Satisfaction Survey
Jaguar ranks highest in satisfying buyers with the new-vehicle sales experience, says the J.D. Power and Associates annual sales satisfaction index study.
Cadillac ranks a distant 2nd, with Lincoln and Porsche tying for 3rd place. Mitsubishi was at the bottom of the heap.
Domestic automakers Ford and General Motors fared well this year, ranking above the industry average. However, below-average performers included Chrysler Group, Honda, Toyota and Nissan.
In a statement, J.D. Power noted that satisfaction is critical to closing a sale. It said nearly one-half of all shoppers who walk away from a dealership cite poor treatment as a reason. It noted that satisfaction is consistently lower on the weekend compared to weekdays, primarily due to taking longer to complete the transaction. It takes an average of 22 minutes longer to purchase a car on a Saturday or Sunday, Power noted.
