2011 Acura RDX SUV

2011 Acura MDX SUV Review

Some say the 2011 Acura RDX looks like a metal spike angry chicken. You can blame the schedule that began last year to this, but even so, the RDX has a lot to be angry. Now in its fifth year in production, this compact luxury crossover has been neglected in favor of new competitors. Perhaps this is a style (pre-and post-peak of the grid) or perhaps simply that consumers do not realize that I wanted a small luxury SUV from Audi and Mercedes began selling. Whatever the reason, however, the RDX deserves better.

On the one hand, the Acura RDX is one of the best compact crossovers to drive. Its four-cylinder engine with turbocharger has less power than the couple of many of its competitors, but a less robust result unladen weight of acceleration energy. In fact, the RDX is faster than all its competitors except for the Infiniti EX35 297 horsepower.

Complementing the rapid acceleration of the RDX is the "Super Handling" All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) that really makes the Acura stand out from the rest. In order to automatically dose the wheels off of the curves, corners sharper RDX and over living with a sense of competition. If your partner wants the added value of a crossover, but are not willing to give up the experience of driving a sports sedan, the RDX can be an excellent choice.

Beyond the performance and flight characteristics of RDX, a well-constructed (though visually insignificant) cottage available for the maximum power of high-tech features, like solar-sensing climate control, iPod interface and easy to use navigation system. The optional Acura / ELS Surround audio system is also one of the best in its class. Best of all, the hits register RDX downloaded at a price that undermines competition itself included in the thousands.

So as you can see, it is worth 2011 Acura RDX with newer competitors like the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLK and Volvo XC60. All have their advantages, in particular, but the Volvo is the best option for families. Will probably benefit the most interesting designs that the luxury segment means a lot. Unfortunately, the RDX, an angry robot chicken is not only the premium graphics.

Body styles, trim levels and options

2011 Acura RDX is a compact five-passenger luxury crossover, available in one trim level. Standard features include 18-inch wheels, heated mirrors, Privacy Glass, automatic xenon headlights, fog lights, sunroof, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, eight-way driver and four spare seats, heated front seats, interior skin, and tilt-telescope steering wheel, Bluetooth and a seven-speaker audio system with six-CD changer, satellite, auxiliary audio jack and iPod / USB audio interface.

Technology package adds a GPS connection, and solar-sensing automatic climate control, rear camera, navigation system, real-time traffic and weather information, control the screen infotainment and voice of a 10-speaker Acura / ELS Surround audio system with DVD capability sound.

Engines and performance

2011 Acura RDX is powered by a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Five-speed automatic transmission gearshift as standard, but choose the standard front-wheel drive or optional four-wheel drive. Nicknamed the SH-AWD, which distributes power not only front and rear axles is typical, but also between the left and right wheels, ensuring optimum traction in all conditions.

When the front-wheel drive, the RDX went from zero to 60 mph 6.9 seconds test, so this is one of the fastest Acura Crossover class. The heavier the SH-AWD model would be only slightly slower. What is the fuel economy, front-wheel drive RDX has an EPA rated at 19 mpg city/24 mpg highway around 21 mpg for one and, while the SH-AWD version of the prices of 17/22/19. Both are middle class.

Security

Acura RDX comes standard with ABS (with brake assist), stability and traction control, front side airbags, curtain airbags and active front headrests in the middle. Rear view camera is optional. In tests of the brakes, front wheel drive RDX stopped 60 mph within a reasonable distance 125 meters.

RDX is not designed for the use of the new government, the staunchest 2011 Crash Test Mode The 2010 votes (which are not comparable to the new method) was a perfect five stars in frontal and side crash or impact. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the RDX a perfect score of "good" in frontal-offset and side impact crash test.

Interior Design and Special Features

The interior design of the RDX is a bit trivial compared to what is in the new competitors, but we still believe that most buyers will be satisfied with the environment of the RDX. The quality of materials is adequate, but it is a little hard plastic in comparison to its competitors. A storage compartment in the center of the depth between the front seats have a briefcase or laptop bag.

It is 28 cubic feet of storage behind the rear seats and 60/40-split folding rear seat backrest is equipped with 61 cubic feet - in mid-pack numbers of the small luxury crossover. Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLK are more stringent, SRX or less the same, and the BMW X3 and the Volvo XC60, in particular, more spacious. Rear legroom is good, but the rear seats do not slip or slide back and forth (as opposed to the Audi Q5 and plebeian cousin of RDX, Honda CR-V).

Driving Impressions

2011 Acura RDX turbo sound is audible hissing is nice differs from the standard six-cylinder audio tracks in this segment. Turbo lag is minimal, and plenty of energy to make you question the power of relatively small numbers.

In motion, the RDX is an attempt to ride comfort - so too rough on the streets. However, the reward comes around the corner, where the RDX is so eager to play for all models in its class. It feels smaller than many other segments and has the steering wheel that has a light side, but convincing, however, accurate. With the signing of the Acura SH-AWD, the treatment of RDX has been further improved, while pulling the corners Ute 'with balance and steadiness.
