Volkswagen Golf Plus BiFuel

The Volkswagen Golf Plus BiFuel has been unveiled today at the 2009 AMI in Leipzig. The Volkswagen Golf Plus BiFuel is factory equipped to operate with Autogas or LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and can be easily switched to run on gasoline. We run on LPG, the Volkswagen Golf Plus BiFuel offers a 10 percent reduction in CO2 emissions.

Volkswagen Golf Plus BiFuelOne of the major advantages of having a factory equipped LPG vehicle is that, as the Volkswagen Golf Plus BiFuel is, the car has been crash tested with all its fuel tanks. The engine of the Volkswagen Golf Plus BiFuel has been adapted to work on LPG and has a longer life than gasoline-only developed engines that run on LPG.

In LPG model, the four-cylinder Volkswagen Golf Plus BiFuel outputs 72 kW / 98 PS, consumes 9.8 liters of LPG per 100 kilometers and has a 159 g/km CO2 emissions level.

Volkswagen Golf GTI in Europe

After making its first public debut in concept form at the Paris Motor Show, Volkswagen has officially unveiled the production version of its new generation Golf GTI MkVI flagship. Building upon the dynamics and driver involvement which defined the spirit of its predecessors, the new model is faster, sharper and more powerful than any standard GTI before it. At its core is an advanced new 2.0-litre TSI engine producing 154kW and peak torque of 279Nm from just 1,700rpm, linked to either a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox.

Volkswagen Golf GTI -1,imageVolkswagen Golf GTI -2,imageVolkswagen Golf GTI -3,imageThis allows the new Golf GTI to sprint from zero to 100km/h in just 6.9 seconds while returning impressive fuel economy of just 6.1 litres per 100km and emissions of only 170 g/km of CO2. Despite its slightly higher output compared to its predecessor, the new GTI is assured maximum traction with the addition of a new XDS electronically controlled differential as standard. This is coupled with new springs and dampers unique to the GTI which also lowers the ride height by 22mm at the front and 15mm at the rear, as well as strut-type front and multi-link rear suspension joined by new anti-roll bars to provide sharper responses.

Volkswagen’s Adaptive Chassis Control system (ACC) is also offered for the first time on the GTI, incorporating pneumatically controlled damper units which allow the driver to choose from normal, comfort or sport modes. As with previous generations, the flagship GTI variant boasts an aggressive new look, with a new front bumper which integrates a deep honeycomb airdam flanked by vertical foglights, a rear diffuser and an all-new exhaust system with dual outlets. A subtle rear wing, smoked rear lenses and red brake calipers surrounded by 17-inch ‘Monza’ alloy wheels tie the look of the exterior together.

Inside the red and black tartan sports seats with red stitching make a return, along with a flat-bottomed GTI multifunction steering wheel and 2Zone electronic climate control. Its inherited Golf DNA also means the new GTI boasts class-leading levels of safety with ABS, ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme) and seven airbags, including for the first time a knee airbag, all as standard. Despite the R32 no longer forming part of the new generation Golf line-up, the new GTI may not be able to claim the flagship title for much longer with an even more potent GTI-R model rumoured to be in development.

2009 Abt Volkswagen Golf VI

(from Abt Press Release) The new ABT Golf VI – the number one
That’s what a winner looks like: since 1974 the VW Golf has dominated not just its vehicle class, but since then it has been Germany’s favourite car almost every year – a success story, which ABT has also co-written. This is because for just over 35 years the Allgauers have looked after the “Golfs”, from the very first one to the current new, sixth version of the long-time favourite. And as usual, ABT has once again had great success with it: with the tailor-made body-kit the designers from Kempten underline the fine character of the number one and give it an extra dose of sportiness. The front grill and spoiler, side skirts, rear spoiler and rear skirt make the ABT Golf VI seem dynamic and give it class.

2009 Abt Volkswagen Golf VI-22009 Abt Volkswagen Golf VI-1The components also suit the angled 4-pipe rear muffler and the AR and BR alloys perfectly. Anyone wanting the complete ABT look can also save money with the exclusive and complete exterior Package. This package also contains, in addition to the ABT AR or BR alloys, the ABT springs. For the new Golf the car tuner also offers a finely tuned ABT coil-over suspension system, the ABT braking system and the ABT sports braking system. These components guarantee you driving enjoyment and safety.

It is, of course, not just the “exterior values” that impress with the ABT Golf VI: the performance improvements offer sportiness, while at the same time are also completely modern. The magic word here is downsizing and it is extremely effective especially with the 1.4 TSI. The most powerful version of the unit offers an impressive 210 HP (154 kW) instead of 160 HP (118 kW). That corresponds to the power of the 2.0 TSI, which has a larger engine, and it provides similar sporty performance at considerably lower consumption and thereby lower emissions.

The engine is also durable, reliable and suitable for everyday use, as these "internal values" are written into the specifications of every ABT engine. Even the “smaller” 1.4 TSI, which provides an impressive 160 HP (118 kW) on the road instead of 122 HP (90 kW), combines driving enjoyment with durability, as does the successful 2.0 TSI. With ABT the sporty two-litre car provides 240 HP/176 kW instead of 210 HP/154 kW. An economical alternative especially for regular drivers is the 2.0 TDI, which impresses at ABT with robust torque and 170 diesel horsepower (125 kW). The 30 extra-HP make themselves felt in the handling which is considerably more agile. The new ABT Golf VI is an all-round impressive vehicle, the best symbiosis of individuality, sporty aspirations and modern technology.

2008 Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance

VW hasn't released any info on the car you see here, which is called the Golf GTI Performance design study, so we'll call it like we see it. A black-and-copper checkered flag motif adorns the hatch, which is enhanced with a widebody kit, lowered suspension, and the expected wheel/tire upgrade. Out back, the GTI's rear bumper cover is covered with more grillework than you'll find on the rump of a Lamborghini Gallardo.

2008 Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance-12008 Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance-2A pair of giant exhaust outlet cutouts are also built into the corners. And speaking of Lamborghinis, VW has fitted the Golf GTI Performance with the dreaded "Lambo doors," which look predictably ridiculous here. The exterior color scheme carries through to the passenger cabin, which gets a 2+1 sport seating arrangement and what appears to be a substantial audio system install. Not our cup 'o tea, but it'll probably go over very well with the VW tuners who take part in the WörtherSEMA... er.. Wörthersee Tour.

Volkswagen Golf Plus Dune

Summer must be on the way, for the rough-and-tumble faux offroaders are out in force.

Following the Renault Scenic Conquest and the Seat Altea Freetrack to the plastic body panel party is Volkswagen's effort: the Golf Plus Dune.

Volkswagen Golf Plus DuneVolkswagen Golf Plus Dune 2Yes, it's an ever-so-hardy variant of the Golf Plus, designed to appeal to people who like the countryside but wish it wasn't full of scary things like wasps and nettles.

Ticking the obligatory boxes, the Golf Plus Dune gets a raised ride height, plastic front and rear guards, silver roof rails and something worryingly described as 'durable plastic rubbing strips'. We're not even going to ask.

It's powered by VW's 1.9-litre turbodiesel, which will return a countryside-friendly 50.4mpg while reaching 62mph in a hedgehog-scaring 12.1 seconds.

Priced at £18,495, the Golf Plus Dune is to be strictly limited to a production run of 400 vehicles.

Volkswagen Rolls Out Golf Variant Sportline

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — The Volkswagen Jetta wagon has been missing from the U.S. lineup since 2004, but it will reappear shortly with the debut of the 2008 Jetta SportWagen in September. The Jetta SportWagen is the U.S. counterpart of the Golf Variant Sportline, which VW unveiled on Monday in Wolfsburg.

Volkswagen Golf Variant SportlineVolkswagen Golf Variant Sportline 2A diesel version of the 2008 Jetta SportWagen will arrive in U.S. showrooms in January, equipped with a 2.0-liter clean diesel engine that makes 140 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a six-speed DSG transmission. VW of America Spokesman Keith Price said the automaker is anticipating EPA numbers of 40 mpg in city driving and 60 mpg on the highway for the diesel SportWagen. The vehicle will be available in all 50 states, marking the first time a diesel Jetta will be available nationwide since 1999, he noted. The gas-engine Jetta Sportwagen will get a 2.5-liter inline-5 that makes 170 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque and is linked to a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional five-speed automatic transmission.

Price said pricing has not yet been set for the 2008 Jetta SportWagen, but added that it is expected to cost about $1,500 more than the 2007 Volkswagen Jetta sedan, which starts at $17,130, including a $640 destination charge.

The Golf Variant Sportline, which comes with a standard panorama sunroof, will hit showrooms in Germany on June 1. It is about 6.2 inches longer than its predecessor and offers increased cargo capacity.
