Aggressive race car-inspired styling

Car enthusiasts - especially lovers of motor sports - have long appreciated the original body lines and aggressive, which were a hallmark in recent years for the sports sedan Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. The current 10 th generation car continues to carry this trend, but does so with a design aesthetic is arguably the best interpretation of the history of the legendary history of sports performance sports sedan with a long and rich.

Inspired by the air intakes of jet fighters, the openings high and wide front bumper of the car is not only lend Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution a beautiful face, but also the flow of huge amounts of air in the compartment engine to provide cooling radiator and intercooler beneficial, helping to maximize power generation. Vents on top of the lightweight aluminum hood and rear sheet metal of the front wheels are as functional as they are smart because they allow to evacuate hot air from inside the engine compartment.

Projecting wings around a relatively high beltline that slopes slightly downward toward the front of the vehicle and ran from the car's trunk lid combine to give the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution a position that is to once muscular and attractive.

A large lid spoiler mounted on the rear (GSR model) or under a rear spoiler (MR model) complete the 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution for style inspired exciting race cars on the outside.

Intoxicating turbo / intercooled 2.0-liter

A well-designed 4B11 T / C of the engine is at the center of each Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, a quick athleticism - you can get the pulse racing, even the most demanding car enthusiasts with its ultra-fast acceleration and full of energy seemingly instantaneous touch anywhere in the rev range, speed is.

Although only a 2.0-liter (1997 cc) displacement, this friendly DOHC 16-valve in-line Central-4 consists of all aluminum engine block and cylinder head (extremely strong and light) and that of the cylinder to measure exactly 86.0 mm (3.4 inches), it is designed "square" bore and stroke ratio is 1.0. Power ratings for this engine is 291 horsepower at 6,500 rpm to 300 Nm torque produced by a full much lower 4000 rpm. Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) operates both camshaft intake and exhaust to optimize efficiency and cleaner exhaust emissions. This turbocharged / intercooled engine compression ratio is 9.0:1.

Short-throw 5-speed manual or quick-firing 6-speed dual-clutch transmission shift Sportronic

Standard equipment on the 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR, manual gearbox 5 speed is fun to drive.

The shift lever to move the gate with a sniper rifle, as each bolt meets the short throws. The driver also has a light clutch pedal works the same way. Features as well as changing the clutch pedal and the supplier reward high mechanical feel - just a high-performance sports car.

But while the smooth functioning and tactile sensation of the manual transmission found in the GSR model provides satisfactory performance, the hard core driving enthusiasts certainly choose the transmission of high technology is included in each model Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR.

Mitsubishi's revolutionary double-clutch transmission Sportronic Shift (TC-SST) is simply an engineering marvel.

TC-SST allows the driver to make changes in a fraction of the time they could be treated with a conventional manual transmission. The system also allows the driver to make these changes via the gear lever mounted on the console or even more conveniently by steering levers magnesium paddle wheel. Moreover, the ratio of nearly 6-speed dual-clutch transmission Sportronic Shift can operate in fully automatic mode as the automatic transmission type. In manual or automatic, each up or down, changing place immediately without any perceptible latency with the engine management system "pulse" the accelerator at every downshift to match engine and transmission speeds perfectly.

Performance Supercar Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC)

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution has always been known for its exceptional handling. But the driver of the vehicle's advanced electronic current generation of AIDS - in particular, the company's stunning Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system - Evolution took the road hugging handling incredibly high.

Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) is not a specific entity, but a network of high-tech dynamic systems that constantly interact with each other to provide optimum traceability. These include the Active Stability Control (ASC), an Active Center Differential (ACD), an Active Yaw Control (CAL) rear differential and Sports ABS brakes. Working together, Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) module of torque at each wheel in real time for maximum control.

Active Stability Control (ASC) includes traction control systems and vehicle stability control and helps regulate the distribution of braking force and engine power at each wheel.

Active Center Differential (ACD) uses electronically controlled hydraulic multi-plate clutch share the motor torque (up to 50:50), front and rear tires. This routing engine power between front and rear of the vehicle depends on a variety of data collected by individual sensors such as wheel speed, throttle opening, wheel angle, and lateral and longitudinal positioning of the car .

Acting similar to a conventional limited slip differential, Active Yaw Control (CAL) rear differential uses a planetary gear differential, a yaw sensor and control the braking force through the Active Stability Control (ASC) control torque to the rear wheels to improve traction and stability on slippery roads and in high speed corners.

And with advanced braking pressure and yaw sensors, Sport Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps the driver maintain better steering control on slippery surfaces or very heavy braking.

At the rear, the aim was both to reduce and enlarge the silhouette, avoiding any chunkiness resulting from the wrong court, therefore, strong aerodynamic lip at the bottom of the lighting, lamps fine combination tilt and the large trapezoidal license plate recess operation between the two.

Dynamic quality

Within the concept of a strong, sporty elegance continues in the form of a clear emphasis on, and cut the material instead of the usual endless search for patterns SUV Ness.

According to the exterior, the cabin Mitsubishi ASX reflects a clear sense of the "dynamic quality", expressed through the hooded meter cluster shared with the Outlander, the soft padding around the central panel extends to the edge of the door or carefully applied silver accents on each side of the audio system or along the door panels.

At the same time, elements such as chrome round of the module to bypass the shift lever, the inspiration motorcycle and silver accents on both sides of the console, and meters.

Logically, textures and materials were chosen to perform the same right key and appearance. Although the interior color scheme is based on a single pitch black, the use of contrasting textures and materials has been done to gain momentum.

In this regard, special attention was paid to the soft cover for the areas affected by the occupiers. This led to the development of a new type of filling two-tone contrasting texture with ripples of a sleek and sporty.

The same approach applies to the seat upholstery where Mitsubishi designers and their partners in the textile industry has created a new material woven embossed to add to the overall feeling of quality sporting and dynamic, adding 3D visual theater discreet black interior.

2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Review

2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Review

In 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse is one of the last of his race. Gone are the days of cheap, front-wheel drive sport coupes greeting from Japan, as the RSX Acura, Honda Prelude and Toyota Celica. Taste has changed and departmental priorities have changed. Today there was a revival of cheap fun cars, but most belong to the genus hot hatch. But for those who make fun of a trap dorky and aspire to the good old days of sports coupe, the Eclipse 2011 is a nice relic. It is also one of the few convertibles in its class in price.

From the moment that was presented four years ago, the Eclipse Spyder convertible and coupe now have mostly noted for his flamboyant style, highlighted by a steeply raked windshield, waistline and sloping forward end is bent back. A clever touch is the spoiler GS "clear posterior lip, while the GT can be equipped with a funky two-tone interior is reminiscent of a palette.

Unfortunately, however, especially the opportunity to eclipse ends. Its standard four-cylinder does not move the coupe and convertible heavy, with a semblance of authority and fuel economy is not particularly impressive. The big V6 found in the GT is the strong power, but crushed the front wheels with a pair. How the Eclipse coupe is also far from the Chevy Cobalt SS and the Honda Civic Si (coupe and other relics) or hot hatches like the Mazdaspeed 3, Mini Cooper S and VW GTI.

The interior is pleasant to look at Eclipse, but look closely, you find unpleasant hard materials. Common features like a telescoping steering wheel, rear headrests and a navigation system are available, and there is also much less space in the back seat as most competitors.

Of the two models of Eclipse, the Spyder is the most attractive of the two, simply because there is a lack of competition. The same price (Ford Mustang, Mini Cooper, Volkswagen Eos) are radically different types of caps below. We believe everyone deserves a look.

Like the coupe, as much as we remember with emotion the old good times Mitsubishi Eclipse, the 2011 version is interesting, but looking a shadow of itself. We had a hard time choosing a place in the Civic Si and Cobalt SS, or rear drive Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang, Hyundai Genesis Coupe. If you care more about fuel economy and a low price, the Kia Koup and Scion tC are also attractive alternatives. Also, do not rush to dismiss these hot hatches. Times have changed economic and SUVs have evolved. The eclipse may well be a relic, but it is a relic.

Body styles, trim levels and options

The 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse is available in two body styles: coupe and convertible Spyder. The two and four seats are available in GS and GT Sport, while the coupe adds an adjustment to base GS.

The GS comes standard with alloy wheels of 18 inches, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, cruise control, power accessories, tilt steering wheel alone, a record of 50-50 and an audio system, rear seats six speakers and CD player. GS Sport adds xenon headlights, fog lights, sunroof, power heated mirrors, heated front seats, leather seat six-way power driver seat, Bluetooth and a Rockford Fosgate nine-speaker audio system with six CD changer, satellite radio , auxiliary input jack and steering wheel. The Spyder has a power convertible top. The GT adds a V6 engine as standard, larger rear brakes, a rear stabilizer bar, rear spoiler large (coupe only) and automatic temperature control. No major factory options, even an iPod adapter is an accessory installed many distributors.

Engines and performance

All Mitsubishi Eclipse 2011 is FWD. The GS model is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that produces 162 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque. The GS comes with a five-speed manual transmission, while a four-speed automatic transmission is optional on the GS and standard on the GS Sport. Estimated fuel economy with the automatic transmission is 20 mpg highway and 23 mpg city/28 mpg combined.

Eclipse GT receives the 3.6-liter V6 good for 265 hp and 262 Nm of torque. Five-speed automatic is standard. This engine requires premium fuel and its fuel economy is 16 mpg city/24 estimated mpg highway and 19 mpg combined.

Security

The Eclipse 2011 comes standard with four-wheel antilock brakes, stability control and side airbags for front seats. Cutting lined curtain airbags and side airbags received the highest Spyder covering the heads of the occupants. There are no rear headrests. The Eclipse Spyder has received the best rating of insurance for road safety "good" in both frontal offset and the Institute for side-impact tests.

Interior Design and Special Features

The cabin of the eclipse is both elegant and simple with a hint of attractive exploration and gauges with chrome light blue background. Unfortunately, this modern well-tempered by the use of certain low-quality materials and a plastic steering wheel telescopes. The front seats are well shaped and supportive, but to the rear seats do not have headrests and does not offer much more space (especially with the Cup tailgate inclined). The design of the tailgate provides an additional utility, however, as the rear seats 50/50-split-folding.

The Spyder is equipped with a top three cloth diapers convertible. In the applicant is a breeze. Release the header latches, push a button and the top lid fits under the barrel solid 19 seconds and it goes up just as quickly. Unfortunately, this approach greatly limits the rearward visibility with the top, and trunk space limited to only 5.2 cubic feet.

Driving Impressions

For many pilots, 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse its driving characteristics can be a bit 'disappointing. GT V6 engine produces a lot of power, but to get all the horses on the pavement can often lead to a large amount of wheel spin and torque. Unlike the V6, four-cylinder Eclipse is grappling with heavy weight - a small acceleration, the engine could be best described as anemic.

Another point of contention is the large turning radius, which requires many more multi-point turns and other vehicles. Management in general should satisfy most drivers, but those with an appetite for performance will probably find inspiration in any number of competitors or sporty hatchback coupe. The Spyder has a flexible chassis over bumps than we would like, but not enough to spoil a driving experience that otherwise pleasant.

2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-400

(from Mitsubishi Press Release) The tenth version of Mitsubishi’s iconic Lancer Evolution models has a new performance flagship model to top its range, the FQ-400.

Extreme Evolution
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-400 is the fastest and most extreme version of Mitsubishi’s motorsport derived machine. With 403bhp and 387lb.ft of torque on offer from its advanced, lightweight aluminium 2.0-litre turbocharged MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control) petrol engine the FQ-400 is able to reach 62mph from standstill in an estimated 3.8 seconds before reaching an electronically limited 155mph – where permitted.

2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-400Traction and handling
Ensuring all the FQ-400’s power is put to good use is Mitsubishi’s sophisticated Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) four-wheel-drive system which appropriates power to the wheels that can best use it, giving the FQ-400 quite sensational cross-country performance.

Extreme Power
To achieve the incredible 403bhp from just 2.0-litres Mitsubishi has had to significantly revise the FQ-400’s advanced powerplant. Motorsport specification high-flow fuel injectors are fitted to the aluminium cylinder head and a new hybrid turbocharger is also fitted. The higher specification turbocharger features low-friction bearings, a high temperature turbine and strengthened thrust bearing to increase response and reduce turbo lag. Feeding the turbocharger cooled air, improving its performance and efficiency, is an enhanced intercooler, while the exhaust’s gasses flow from the engine via a 3-inch diameter high flow stainless steel piping and catalytic convertor before exiting through a centrally positioned exhaust.

Mitsubishi has remapped the Engine Control Unit (ECU) extensively with over 500 hours of development time to allow its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine to not just produce its exceptional output but to do so with excellent driveability. The FQ-400’s acceleration is sensational, it pulling hard through the gears regardless of engine revs. With peak torque of 387lb.ft on offer from just 3,500rpm, the FQ-400 is just as able to trickle through town traffic as it is taking a rally special stage.

2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback goes for sale in U.S. this summer

Mitsubishi finally announced what we’ve known all along: the five-door Lancer Sportback is coming to the States for the 2010 model year and sales will begin this summer.

2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback-12010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback-2The 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback builds on the already competent Lancer sedan, although the overall length is slightly longer to accommodate the new hatch. One-touch auto-folding rear seats split 60:40 to make room for “active lifestyle” parcels and Mitsubishi dropped the rear cargo area floor by three inches to create 52.7 cubic-feet of space when the rear thrones are folded flat.

The Sportback will be available in two trims, beginning in GTS form and equipped with Mitsubishi’s 168 hp, 2.4-liter inline four mated to either a five-speed manual or CVT with six “virtual” ratios. More importantly, the Sportback will be offered in Ralliart guise, with the detuned Evolution X’s turbocharged 4B11 2.0-liter four putting out 237 hp and 253 lb.-ft. of torque. Power will be doled out to all four wheels through Mitsubishi’s All-Wheel Control (AWC) system with Active Center Differential (ACD), and buyers can opt for either the six-speed Twin Clutch-Sportronic Shift transmission (TC-SST) or CVT gearbox, both of which are manipulated by a set of magnesium-alloy paddle shifters.

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR

Mitsubishi Lancer Evos are supposed to be good for work and play, but Jason Cammisa found the Evo to be a less than desirable travel companion on a recent trek to Pittsburg; "highway cruising range (200 miles) is unacceptable, and it's made possible by horrendous, disgusting, and inexcusable fuel consumption." Jason recorded about 16.3 mpg and he was mostly cruising on the highway for 715 miles. We don't mind the ridiculous fuel consumption during extended bouts of drifting and playing on gravel roads, but it's almost laughable to think of taking the Evo on an extended trip with such a short range.

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MRThough the Evo has largely been trouble-free, we managed to damage a wheel and discovered a replacement for the stock wheel cost $950. Hey, Mitsubishi dealers have to make their money somewhere. There have also been reports of the radio/navigation unit not displaying anything for up to 15 minutes on extremely cold days. No other vehicles in our fleet had this problem with touch-screen displays.

Nobody argues about the ride quality, handling, or wonderful Recaro seats, but the radio, fuel consumption, and small trunk make the Evo far from perfect. If you're in the mood for a spirited drive this is your car. Those looking to mix work with pleasure find the car to be too hardcore for everyday life and, ironically, a bit too soft when compared with the previous Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution if you really want to hammer on it.

Mitsubishi Evolution X FQ400 coming with 405 hp

Autocar snagged a handful of pics and some initial specs of the UK-only Mitsubishi Evolution X FX-400, and as suspected, the hotter Evo is a road-going version of the ADR Motorsport-prepared sedan that successfully campaigned this past September in the 24-Hour Britcar Championship.

Mitsubishi Evolution X FQ400The turbocharged 2.0-liter 4B11 will put out approximately 405 hp and 400 lb.-ft. of torque thanks to a new turbo, retuned ECU and center-exit exhaust. As opposed to the outgoing FQ400, the Evo X-based model won't use a race clutch, so puttering around town should be bit more bearable, and due to the FQ400's prodigious output, the twin-clutch SST gearbox – which can't handle more than 331 lb.-ft. of torque – won't be used. Despite this, expect the FQ400 to lay down 0-60 times of around 3.5 seconds, 0.6 seconds faster than the Evo X FQ360.

In addition to six-pot calipers, upgraded brakes and 18-inch wheels, the FQ400 will feature a new aero kit that includes additional cooling intakes, vents, a larger air intake in the hood and ducts cut into the side skirts to aid rear brake cooling. Production will be limited to 100 units, unless demand calls for more, but considering the price – between £45,000 and £50,000, or £14,500 more than the FQ-360 – 100 examples should just about do it.

2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart

The 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart has been unveiled almost a year ago and aims to be a less expensive alternative for the Lancer Evo X. The 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart is powered by the same 4B11 T/C Turbo 2.0 liter engine that powers the Evo X, but tuned to output 237 hp at 6000 rpm and 253 lb.-ft. of torque at 3000 rpm instead of the 295 hp in the Evo. The engine of the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart is coupled with the 6-speed Twin-Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST) that has only 2 operating modes, Normal and Sport, instead of three in the Evo. The 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart is also fitted with 4-wheel drive (4WD) and the All-Wheel Control (AWC) system that includes an Active Center Differential (ACD).

2009 Mitsubishi Lancer RalliartAs far as the styling goes, the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart has a similar styling as the Evo X, without the wider body kit and the higher boot spoiler.

Mitsubishi Press Release:

The new-for-2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart is based on the Lancer GTS platform, adopting powertrain and 4-wheel drive technology from the Lancer Evolution. The result is a unique model optimized for exhilarating yet balanced overall road performance. The Lancer Ralliart gets a modified version of the Lancer Evolution 4B11 T/C turbocharged/intercooled 2.0-liter DOHC MIVEC engine, teamed with the Twin Clutch-Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST) from the Evolution MR model. Starting with a Lancer Evolution long block assembly, the turbocharger, intercooler and valve timing are modified for impressive street-oriented performance in the Ralliart application.

The Lancer Ralliart engine produces 237 hp at 6,000 RPM and 253 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 3,000 RPM. (Evolution: 291 hp and 300 lb.-ft.) The driver can manually shift using the console shifter or the Sportronic steering column-mounted magnesium-alloy paddle shifters, or can select fully automatic operation. The Lancer Ralliart's TC-SST unit features Normal and Sport shifting modes (but not the ultra-performance S-Sport mode featured in the Evolution MR.)

The 2009 Lancer Ralliart is a unique new model designed for driving enthusiasts who value exhilarating yet balanced overall road performance. The name is inspired by Ralliart, the performance and motorsports division of Mitsubishi, which has claimed World Rally Championships in addition to dominating the Dakar Rally. With the 2009 Lancer Ralliart, the Ralliart name is fomented as the performance brand for Mitsubishi Motors.

The 2009 Lancer Ralliart is powered by a modified version of the Lancer Evolution's turbocharged / intercooled 2.0-liter MIVEC engine, but tuned for strong low-end and mid-range torque. The standard Active Center Differential (ACD) full-time 4-wheel drive system is essentially the same as used in the previous-generation U.S.-spec Lancer Evolution models.

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR

Mitsubishi’s Evolution VIII manages to bully a V12 Lamborghini Murcielago into a 180 degrees spin, and effectively wins the race. It’s a remarkable feat made all the more so, given Jeremy Clarkson was driving the EVO and British Touring Car driver, James Kaye was behind the wheel of the Lambo.

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR-12008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR-2It’s as though an Alien race with no experience whatsoever in building cars, got to work and packaged all this advanced technology into the first thing they saw on the freeway and behold, the Mitsubishi Evolution! And Evolution is exactly right. While the EVO VIII was a sensation, it was also too hardcore for many. A brutal ride, notchy gearshifts and only five forward speeds, meant a very select and very small market.

Along came the EVO IX with various improvements including an extra cog and a thing called MIVEC (Mitsubishi variable Valve Timing), which made the car faster, smoother and an easier drive than its predecessor. And while the ride quality was still considered harsh by anyone other than a track day junkie, it was noticeably more compliant than the EVO VIII, especially over speed bumps and those wheel-warping potholes. Was it a twenty-four seven commuter? Not quite, but almost.

It’s still a hardcore machine, no doubt about that. But this particular variant, the Evo MR, which I have been driving, has one of those automated manual gearboxes, which can swap ratios quicker, than it would take your left hand to reach the shifter.

It works pretty much the same way as Volkswagen’s DSG gearbox although, Mitsubishi call it a Twin Clutch-Sport Shift Transmission (TC-SST), which was developed by German transmission and drivetrain gurus, Getrag. It’s fast shifting but doesn’t feel quite as refined as the DSG system but then again, this is an EVO and thankfully, things are still a lot more frenetic on board this car, including the shifts.

You can still have a five-speed manual, if you’re a diehard or more importantly, if you can’t stretch the budget in these dark times, but its the TC-SST more than anything else, which makes this the first incarnation of the EVO you could live with twenty-four/seven. What made the EVO IX such a quick thing can be attributed in most part to its power to weight ratio, 7.1kw/kg. It had a kerb weight of just 1470kg and even less, if you opted for the performance pack, which included forged wheels by BBS, which sliced off another 1.1kg per corner.
