Porsche 911 GT3
When Porsche decided to build the 2007 911 GT3, they applied the same development and engineering that went into the 911 race cars that won the 12 hours of Sebring, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the ALMS championship. The car is built around the most powerful normally aspirated engine Porsche has ever built, the rear mounted 415 horsepower, 3.6-liter 6-cylinder. A specifically designed 6-speed manual tranny is mated to the engine, and the combination rockets the car from 0-to-60 miles per hour in a scant 4.1 seconds. On track top speed is 193 miles per hour. True to racecar technology, the 911 GT3 has a fully adjustable chassis and rear wing, and the new front apron features a range of aerodynamic refinements, which help to cool the brakes and direct air to the central radiator. A 3rd radiator unit is a necessary addition to compensate for the higher thermal loads on the engine. In the 911 GT3 cockpit the environment is reduced to the bare essentials. All instruments are clearly visible, and all controls easy to operate. Though fully prepared for the challenges of the track, the 911 GT3 is equally enjoyable in everyday road use.
