Peugeot 308 CC - official pics

We might say that white is not really its color, and the three-quarter shots of the front don’t really do it justice. Peugeot is releasing the first pics of the 308 Coupé Cabriolet, the classic open top version with rigid folding roof.

As usual with this type of vehicle, the tail is the most discussed aspect - accomodating the hard top makes for some difficult aesthetic decisions for designers. The rear of this Peugeot is voluminous, but also flat and nearly horizontal, though the grooves creating a V effect, lighten the vision a little.

2009 Peugeot 308 CC spy photos

After the introduction of the 308 hatchback earlier this year, Peugeot is now going full throttle on the development of the 308 CC, due to hit the showroom mid next year.

Our European photographers snapped prototypes of the future convertible undergoing high-speed testing on a racing circuit in France.

Like its predecessor, the new 308 CC will mimic the hatchback’s front-end design and will get a retractable hardtop that folds in two parts.

Overall length and width won’t differ much from the 3- and 5-door hatchback but credible rumours suggest the CC will be the world’s first car to be offered with a diesel hybrid.

All conventional engines offered for the hatchback, however, will be available for the topless car, too.
