Seven-seat Outlander on its way
Mitsubishi has ditched the current Outlander's awkward looks for a svelte styling in the new model.
Apart from its new-found good looks, which Mitsubishi hopes will increase sales from the current model's doldrums, the big news is seven seats.
The third row of seats follows the fashion for two individual chairs that fold flat into the boot floor.
An updated version of the present 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine will be used, along with a five-speed automatic gearbox.
There are no plans to bring the US-spec 3.0 V6 model to the UK.
No diesel is planned at present, but part-time four-wheel remains, with power being sent to the front wheels in normal driving conditions.
Expect to see the handsome new Outlander in dealerships from the start of 2007.
