Coupe 2009 Spyker C8

2009 Spyker C8 Coupe Review

Spyker is a rarity in this period for the automotive conglomerate and decreased consumer demand - is an independent company that builds sports cars by hand. Spyker name comes from the late 19 th century, when it was connected to a Dutch company that builds cars and planes before the bankruptcy in 1920. In 1999, a pair of Dutch businessmen bought the rights to the name and started a new company that builds supercar tailored for wealthy enthusiasts. Ten years later, in 2009 Spyker C8 Spyker debuted the first to be sold in North America.

2009 Spyker C8 range consists of three different models: the coupe C8 Laviolette C8 Spyder (soft-top version of the LaViolette) C8 Aileron and coupe. LaViolette, and Spyder is sold in Europe for some time, while the C8 Aileron is a new design and unique style, structure rebuilt and modernized, the long version of the C8 substrate. C8S All are powered by a mid-mounted 4.2-liter Audi V8 engine tuned to produce up to 400 horses, and all use a six-speed manual to save the wing, which is an optional six-speed automatic. About 3,000 pounds of C8 is also much lighter than most supercars extensive use of aluminum construction.

I was designed from scratch as an exclusive exotic sports car, Spyker C8 2009 seems really nothing else on the road. LaViolette and Spyder function of many details inspired by an airplane, from "Aeroblade" 19-inch wheels of the car and took a different sphere of air. Yet, the aesthetic highlight of the Spyker C8 is no doubt that the rich and elegant interior design stores. Highlighted in a full leather interior, brushed aluminum dash (request, turned aluminum), knurled aluminum knobs, and a return beam exposed wiring, C8 cabin does not seem out of place in art museums.

C8 processing of user data are certainly impressive, precise manual control, and the Lotus-tuned suspension is fully adjustable to a massive six-piston brake. And even though the Audi V8 is expected to produce relatively small, 0-60 h sprint in around 4.5 seconds, it sounds so good that buyers do not lose sleep, for example, the ability of the Nissan GT-R to drive another away from that time to a fraction of the price of C8. But let's be realistic: The main task of this car is its performance, but its craftsmanship and unique style. 2009 Spyker C8 Aileron is the pinnacle of cars in high fashion - you can imagine a second car, of which $ 5,000 Louis Vuitton set of tools can be defined? - So the impressive ability are likely to be perceived only as icing on the cake.

Body styles, trim levels and options

The Spyker C8 is an exotic sports car 2009 available in three versions: C8 Laviolette C8 Spyder and a longer wheelbase C8 spoiler. Standard features include alloy wheels with 18 inch C8 Laviolette, bi-xenon headlights, keyless entry / ignition, power-operated doors tilt hinge simple, leather, air conditioning and an audio CD. The C8 Spyder team alignment C8 Laviolette, the addition of a canvas roof assisted at the scene of a fixed roof Laviolette. C8 Aileron design adds a single dashboard with a system of multi-function LCD screen navigation and a six-speaker sound Kharma with Bluetooth and iPod connectivity. A Spyder version of the fin to appear later in the model year.

As expected of a car hand-built exotic Spyker C8 offers a bewildering variety of options, including body panels, riveted, 19-inch alloy wheels ("Aeroblade" of Laviolette / Spyder "Rotorblade" for the spoiler) music upgraded seats, heating, leather upholstery, an aluminum instrument panel, a custom set of Louis Vuitton luggage, a set of tools Louis Vuitton brand Chronoswiss, Alcantara interior and exterior finish and custom colors inside.

Engines and performance

Rear-wheel drive 2009 Spyker C8 is powered by a V8 4.2-liter 400 horsepower and 354 cranks lb.-ft. of torque. Spyder C8 Laviolette and models have a six-speed manual transmission, while the C8 Aileron provides a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic with paddle shift. Spyker considers a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds for the C8. The EPA estimated fuel economy of 13 mpg combined and 15 mpg city/18 mpg highway.

Security

The applicable American LaViolette and C8 Spyder is equipped with an airbag steering wheel instead of the Euro-spec four propeller-shaped rays. C8 Aileron adds a passenger airbag. ABS are standard, but greater stability and traction control is available.

Interior Design and Special Features

Simply enter the 2009 Spyker C8 cabin is a deplorable practice, but too sweet. The button sends the scissor door hinge to the sky, one absorbs the active display technology sophistication. From the comfortable leather sports seats, aircraft-style red latch at the top of the power switch calls. Lift the latch, press the switch and press the start button, and the mid-mounted V8 engine fires to life. Look around the inside to reveal the same level of attention to detail, from fully exposed gear wheels available chronometer-style gauges. Extensive accessories and interior color combinations, C8S that no two are identical. Lamborghini with mud houses scattered by Audi / VW maneuver in these days and the Ferrari in the second half, but short of remarkable, Spyker C8 stands out from the inside in an exotic car sports segment.

Driving Impressions

Sweet and sensitive to the Audi V8, despite the Spyker C8 is not a machine that attracts you to run with other exotic. It 's fast, but not so fast. The management is another matter, but - the precise hand-to-point steering and feedback through the Lotus chassis, C8 is plenty of Moxie. Unfortunately, the price that the treatment should be the shape of the spine-bruising ride. C8 is not shaken, but you can ask your questions about the driver's seat, after a spell. To the credit of the Spyker C8, however, very rigid aluminum structure reveals the base color to zero and the sensation of driving enthusiasts will appreciate the close connection of moving parts, and the street below.

Spyker C8 Aileron gets a longer fuselage

2009 Spyker C8 Aileron

Stylish. Unique. Quirky. "Practical" isn't one of the words typically associated with Spykers, but apparently customers in the Dutch automaker's niche clientele found the C8's cabin, deliciously steampunk as it is, a tad cramped. Spyker has responded by stretching the supercar's wheelbase to offer a bit more interior space for all that retro switchgear and diamond-quilted leather to create the C8 Aileron, unveiled in concept form here last year and in the final production version this time 'round at the Geneva Motor Show.

Although the Aileron would ostensibly seem a simple stretch job, Spyker claims to have completely re-engineered the car from scratch, starting with the aluminum space-frame chassis. However you look at it, the Aileron is 155mm (5.9 inches) longer than the C8 Laviolette it replaces. A lengthened C8 Spyder is also in the works, and the more commodious version promises to help the troubled niche automaker branch into the lucrative North American market.

2009 Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85

(from Spyker press release) Spyker introduces the C8 Laviolette LM85 of which a maximum of 24 production slots are being offered.

2009 Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85-12009 Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85-2The LM85 has been designed in the spirit of our Spyker Squadron GT2 (LMES) race cars and sports a GT2 inspired livery. The LM85 is named after the starting number of our GT2 cars we have had at Le Mans since 2002. The LM85 specification list is exhaustive with exclusive elements incorporated. All 24 LM85 owners are special guest during the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2009. Furthermore, a special Chronoswiss 24 Hours Pilot Watch is part of the offer. The LM85 is an advanced mid-engine, two-seat sports car.

It is characterized by a lightweight all aluminium body construction and an uncompromising engineering package. The powertrain of the LM85 is the all aluminium Audi 4.2 Litre V8 engine producing 400 bhp. This is paired to a manual six-speed Getrag gearbox, driving the rear wheels with a Drexler limited slip differential. The use of aluminium parts and other lightweight materials results in an impressive power-to-weight ratio and underlines the GT2 racing heritage of the LM85.

Based on the Spyker C8 Laviolette GT2R, the racing characterisitics of the LM85 are numerous, such as the structural aluminium chassis, GT2 livery (Burnt Almond Orange with Gun Metal 'S' logo), side mirrors in Gun Metal, a carbon fibre rear spoiler, and GT2 windscreen streamer. Behind the black powder coated alloy wheels, black AP Racing 6 piston brake calipers with AP Racing logo appear.

Racing is of key importance to Spyker as it breeds the brand and highlights the endurance and performance capabilities of our cars. Spyker therefore has had its own factory race team since its inception in 2000: Spyker Squadron. In 2009 Spyker Squadron will participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the seventh time. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is a unique event for both racing fans and drivers. As part of the LM85 offering all LM85 owners are invited to celebrate and experience the 24 hours of Le Mans 2009. During this VIP Hospitality weekend, Spyker hosts the owner and guest at the most famous sports car endurance race, held on the "Circuit de la Sarthe".

LA 2008: Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85

Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85

The Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85, which we'll call "Tiger," is officially out and about. Spyker has released more images of the Audi-engined, 400-hp, 6-speed manual Le Mans-inspired road car, and to our eyes it could be the best looking Spyker we've seen. The blacked-out mirrors do it a lot of favors and don't remind us any more of carry handles, and it has even retained 19-inch wheels secured with one lug nut and will apparently get you a combined 15 mpg on the EPA cycle. Not bad for a leathered up race car.

Spyker to build lightweight race-derived C8 LM 85

Spyker C8 LM 85

Take your exotic sports car and put it in a room with its racing counterpart. Put on some R&B, dim the lights and wait nine months. It's a winning formula that has worked for some of the world's best automakers and resulted in such stunning performance vehicles as the Ferrari 430 Scuderia, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, Aston Martin DBS and Porsche 911 GT3 RS, to name just a few. Now Spyker is getting ready to cue up the Barry White with the upcoming LM 85.

Named for the starting position of the Spyker C8 GTR2 racer at Le Mans, the LM 85 will be the latest race-derived, hardcore exotic sportscar. It will be based on the short-wheelbase C8 Laviolette, but lightened and tightened. Power could be as high as 450 horses, while the suspension is expected to be stiffened and weight removed to get a 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) figure near 3.8 seconds and top speed bumping the 300 km/h (186 mph) mark. Only a highly symbolic 24 examples are expected to be built in an effort to bring the niche Dutch automaker back from the brink.

Spyker and Lotus sign cooperative agreement

Spyker and Lotus

Lotus and Spyker have worked together on a variety of projects over the past four years, but today, they've announced a new partnership that will further solidify both automaker's technical and design prowess. As its name would imply, the "Parts and Platform Commonality Agreement" involves Lotus supplying both elements to Spyker, helping to build the Dutch supercar producer's new C8 Aileron and possible the D12 Peking-to-Paris SSUV. According to AutoCar, that could mean that future Spyker's could be based of the Lotus Esprit and that Lotus will increase its stake in the development of Spyker's cars.

PRESS RELEASE

Spyker Cars N.V. and Lotus Cars Ltd., of Hethel, England, announce the signing of a cooperation agreement.

Spyker and Lotus have reached agreement today on the outline of their intended cooperation, which will include a Parts and Platform Commonality Agreement (PPCA), a Parts and Accessories Supply Agreement pursuant to which Lotus would provide certain parts for Spyker's new C8 Aileron super sportscar, and a concept Design and Engineering Agreement relating to all of Spyker's future models.

The parties' objective is to reduce costs of parts and components by sharing technology.

Victor R. Muller, CEO of Spyker Cars comments: "Our company has had a very fruitful cooperation with Lotus, developed over the past four years, relating to engineering services in respect of certain components of our cars, as well as in respect of worldwide certification. Spyker and Lotus have now come to the conclusion that they need to intensify their cooperation to the point that we intend to share parts and platforms, as well as an agreement on the supply of parts. Moreover, Lotus Engineering has become Spyker's preferred subcontractor in respect of a number of engineering projects relating to the Spyker C8 Aileron and the Spyker D8 Peking-to-Paris.

Michael Kimberley, CEO of Lotus Cars, added: "Lotus is very pleased to be identified as Spyker's preferred Engineering supplier for these unique "high Brand Image" ground breaking cars. We look forward to working with Spyker to expand our global business opportunities, projects and interests for our mutually synergistic Products and Technologies. 2008 Spyker C8 Aileron

(from Spyker Press Release) Spyker Cars, manufacturer of premium sport cars, unveiled its second generation C-line sports car at the Salon International de l’Auto in Geneva, Switzerland today: The all aluminium Long Wheel Base model is called Spyker C8 Aileron and will come with both a manual as well as an automatic gearbox.

2008 Spyker C8 Aileron2008 Spyker C8 Aileron-2Architecture
The C8 Aileron continues Spyker’s signature architecture (applied since its inception in 2000 with the C8 Spyder) of a mid-engined configuration in an aluminium space frame, clad in aluminium body panels.

The Aileron’s space frame is a development of the original space frame of the first generation cars: its torsional rigidity, however, was improved by 40% without adding any weight. Its dimension have changed though, the wheelbase increasing by 10 cm / 4.5 inches for improved road handling and more cockpit space. Also its front track was widened and as a result the car is virtually ‘square’.

Power train
The Aileron will continue to use the Audi 4.2 litre V8 giving 400 BHP. This state-of-the-art 5 valve 4 cam engine is now mated to a 6 speed Getrag manual or a 6 speed automatic ZF gearbox. This is the first time a Spyker is available with such an automatic gearbox as standard equipment.

Wheels and suspension
The Aeroblade ™ (5 propeller) wheels of the first generation cars are – logically – replaced by a 10 blade rotor wheel called ‘Rotorblade’ ™. They come in 19” all round and are made in left and right hand turning versions. The Aileron’s suspension was developed from scratch and has double wishbones both front and rear. Shock absorbers are now placed vertically within the wishbones.

(Carbon Ceramic ) Brakes
Brakes are supplied by AP Racing, a Spyker partner from day one. Colour coded callipers with Spyker script are available as an option. The Aileron is available with carbon ceramic brakes as an option as well.

2008 Spyker C8 Aileron

Big news for a little firm, Spyker have today unveiled their V8 powered C8 Aileron Grand Tourer.

The coupe has an aluminium body clad around an all aluminium space-frame chassis. The bodywork from the front draws heavily from Spyker’s aero heritage as some of the intakes would not look out of place on an Airbus A320. Squint a little from the rear and you would be forgiven that you were looking at a TVR Tuscan, overall though it’s undeniably interesting.

A wider track and a 10cm longer wheelbase gives the Spyker an almost square footprint. Making that footprint are immense 19-inch BF Goodrich tyres which are wrapped around turbine style (the aero heritage again) 10 spoke bladed alloys. Just hidden behind these alloys are substantial AP racing brakes which can be optioned up to Carbon/Ceramic specification. Double wishbone suspension features both front and rear.

An Audi sourced 4.2L 5 valve per cylinder V8 churns out a respectable 400hp through either a 6 speed manual Getrag gearbox or at an extra cost, a 6 speed ZF automatic transmission.

The standard kit is immense and includes Xenon headlights and a Bluetooth equipped Audio system with GPS and an i-Pod adapter. Expect lots of leather inside the cockpit. It’s not cheap though with the manual coming at a snip under €200,000 and the auto at €207,990.

Keen to develop some racing heritage, Spyker will field two Spyker Laviolette GT2R’s in both the 2008 and 2009 Le Mans Series. Spyker will also enter the classic 24hr Le Mans. We wish them luck.

Just got done watching the movie War with Jet Li and Jason Statham. Did I enjoy the movie? YEA! What’s not to like? Fighting, shooting, guns, all kinds of guns, gangsters killing each other.. and CARS! It doesn’t take much to make me like a movie, as long as the plot is not too wacky, and there’re planty of action, gadgets and cars to keep me entertained, I’m happy.

SpykerSpyker-2Spyker-3Anyways, back to the cars. I was just drooling over the car that Jet Li was driving. Of course as soon as the movie was done.. I was Googling for more infor about it.
