Be an alternative to models like the BMW Z4, Mercedes-Benz SLK, Porsche Boxster S or Audi S5 Cabrio. The Nissan 370Z Roadster, as the Porsche and Audi, has a roof which is made of a canvas; the Mercedes-Benz and BMW Z4 carry a folding metal.

The roof of the Nissan 370Z Roadster has been designed according to Nissan, to meet three objectives: the Nissan 370Z Roadster is recognizable as a Nissan 'Z' by its silhouette, and is convertible tops or the operation of opening and closing the roof is rapid and piece of cake.

The moon roof is glass and carries electrical resistors to prevent fogging. The Nissan 370Z Roadster has not specified how much it takes to open or close. The model it replaces, the 350Z Roadster, it took 20 s.

The Nissan 370Z Roadster has a 3.7 liter V6 engine that provides 330 hp. It is more powerful and has more displacement than the Nissan 370Z Roadster; a 3.5-liter V6 in the latest version had 313 hp. It can be coupled to a gearbox six-speed manual or an automatic seven relations, which can be operated from the lever or by a cam located behind the wheel.

The manual transmission has a system called 'SynchroRev Control" which allows the gears quickly and easily fall over the cuts.
2012 Porsche Boxster – Spied
If the prototypes don't seem very different from the current model, consider it a sign. Porsche is happy with the current styling formula, but proportions will be altered slightly. We believe it will look closer than ever to the original concept car that stunned the 1993 Detroit auto show. With the next Boxster, Porsche is copying the approach to the next-generation 911—to be dubbed the 991, not 998—a car which we have have also spied. That 911 will be launched about six months before the Boxster. The trilogy will be completed with the next Cayman, to be launched in mid-2012.The engines will be carried over virtually unchanged. Porsche Boxster (2.9-liter non-direct injection flat-six) and Boxster S (3.4-liter direct-injection flat-six) are currently rated at 255 hp and 310 hp, respectively, while the Cayman and Cayman S are rated at 265 hp and 320 hp. These numbers won't change a lot, although a slight power increase would make sense and is always welcome.
Transmissions will also carry over, including a short-throw six-speed manual and the new seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission, which works well on the current model but is somewhat awkward to operate in manual mode when using the steering-wheel-mounted buttons. Expect paddle shifters on the next Boxster. An all-wheel-drive version is highly unlikely, given that the Boxster's transmission sits behind the engine.
The new Boxster and Cayman are bad news for Finnish manufacturer Valmet, which will lose production of both models to Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria. Porsche was Valmet's only customer, and when the Boxster runs out in 2011 and the Cayman in 2012, the coachbuilder hopes to fill the gap with the Fisker Karma, which is scheduled to go into production in late 2009.
Magna Steyr currently produces the BMW X3, the Mercedes G-class, and the Saab 9-3 convertible, as well as European-market versions of the Chrysler 300, Jeep Commander, and Jeep Grand Cherokee. But much of its capacity is unused and the next X3 will move to BMW’s South Carolina plant, so the Boxster and Cayman will give Magna’s venerable plant a new lease of life. The Cayman will be made exclusively in Graz, the Boxster will be made in Graz and in Porsche's own plant in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. Doing so allows Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking to utilize a clever strategy: Have Porsche’s own plant running at capacity at all times while allowing the contract manufacturer to absorb market fluctuation.

Next-generation Porsche Boxster caught testing - spied
Porsche just unveiled improved versions of its Boxster and Cayman at the 2008 LA Auto Show last November, but they're already hard at work on the next all-new Boxster that's still a few years out. Destined for a debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the next Boxster will reportedly feature all-new sheetmetal with sources saying not a single body panel will remain untouched. The spy shots in our gallery below show an early development mule already wearing cladding to hide some of the new design elements.Porsche is also delving beneath the skin to improve the car's mechanicals, and weight saving measures are reportedly at the top of list. If Porsche can decrease the Boxster's curb weight enough, it will likely use a smaller turbocharged four-cylinder to power the car. Though still likely to offer more than 200 hp, a smaller powerplant would enable Porsche to meet more stringent emissions and fuel economy regulations while maintaining the mid-engine sports car's performance and world renowned handling.

2009 Porsche Boxster and Cayman unveiled
Porsche has unveiled its next generation Boxster and Cayman models at the Los Angeles Auto Show today. Showcasing the same level of evolutionary design we have come to expect from Porsche in recent years, the biggest changes come from improvements to the drivetrain of each model.
Porsche Boxster
The entry level Boxster now boasts a 2.9-litre flat-six engine which develops 188kW while fuel efficiency has dropped to just 9.1-litres per 100kms - a 10 percent improvement over the previous 2.7-litre unit. With the new standard six speed manual transmission, the Boxster accelerates from zero to 100km/h in just 5.9 seconds.A new 228kW 3.4-litre direct-injected has found its way into the Boxster S model which delivers smoother engine response and improved fuel economy of just 9.4-litres per 100kms. When mated to the optional double-clutch PDK transmission with Launch Control, the Boxster S covers zero to 100km/h in just 5.0 seconds.
The Boxster and Boxster S feature the latest generation Porsche Stability Management (PSM) now offering two new functions: Brake Pre-Loading and Brake Assist.
Porsche Cayman
The Cayman range receives the same engine line-up as the Boxster - albeit with more power, with the entry level model developing 195kW from its 2.9-litre unit. The Cayman S uses the same 3.4-litre unit also with direct-injection technology, delivering 235kW without any fuel penalty over the engine in the Boxster. Performance has improved for both models, with the Cayman S in particular reaching 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds from a standing start.Boasting similar exterior upgrades as the Boxster, the Cayman is also available with a Lights Package featuring bi-xenon headlights, dynamic cornering lights and LED day-time driving lights.
In line with the Boxster range, the new Cayman also offers the latest generation Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and optional Porsche Communication Management (PCM) 3.0 entertainment system.

2008 Porsche Boxster Review
In 1997, the convertible Porsche Boxster ushered in an era of the more affordable Porsche. Oddly enough, it's now the base version of the Cayenne, the company's SUV, that's the least expensive Porsche. But that's where the similarities end. The current Boxster, like the original, features a nicely balanced midengine/rear-drive layout and the proven performance of a responsive flat-6 engine.Three years ago, the second-generation Boxster roadster debuted and in 2007 more powerful engines were added. Those new engines make the current generation Boxster the most powerful ever. The S model delivers 295 horsepower while the standard model provides a perfectly adequate 245 hp.
Porsche introduced the hardtop version of the Boxster, the Cayman, two years ago, but the Boxster delivers a more premium feel inside with the added fun of a convertible top. Plenty of leather and attractive faux metallic trim give the Boxster a luxurious look, and it remains competent as a weekend getaway car or even as a daily commuter.
But the classically styled 2008 Porsche Boxster is also a serious, purpose-built midengine roadster designed to travel hard and fast -- sometimes demanding a driver's undivided attention but rewarding the skilled driver with razor-sharp, real-time feedback. Dynamically, no other roadster can match it. If that's what you're after and you can swing the luxury-oriented bottom line, you couldn't convince us of a more compelling choice.
What's New for 2008
The Porsche Boxster remains largely unchanged for 2008, although there is a Limited Edition model that features some cosmetic modifications. On the options list, you'll find new lightweight sport seats made from fiberglass and carbon fiber-reinforced plastic.

2007 Porsche Boxster
(from Porsche Press Release) The 2007 Boxster and Boxster S, aided by more power and torque via new engines fitted with Porsche's VarioCam Plus variable valve timing and lift system, cement the Boxster as the sportscar kingdom's most practical and entertaining value. The engine in the Boxster S has been enlarged from 3.2 to 3.4 liters, and now develops 295 horsepower at 6250 rpm - 15 horsepower more than its predecessor. Torque has also swelled 15 lb.-ft., to 251 lb.-ft. The Boxster S sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds (0-100 km/h, 5.4 sec.) - a tenth of a second quicker than the previous model. This open sports car's top test-track speed has risen 2 mph to 169 mph (272 km/h). This heady performance comes at little cost to efficiency, as the Boxster S manages a city/hwy fuel-economy rating of 20/28 MPG with the standard six-speed transmission.
The 2.7-liter Boxster engine now develops an additional 5 horsepower, bringing peak output to 245 horsepower. Torque has also increased, from 199 to 201 lb.-ft., peaking 100 rpm earlier with a broad torque plateau from 4600 to 6000 rpm. With the standard 5-speed manual transmission, the '07 Boxster accelerates from a standstill to 60 mph in just 5.8 seconds (0-100 km/h, 6.1 sec.), and has a top test-track speed of 160 mph (258 km/h). With the optional six-speed manual gearbox, top test-track speed increases to 162 mph (260 km/h). Fuel economy on the Boxster model is particularly impressive. With the standard 5-speed manual transmission, it achieves a city/hwy rating of 23/32 MPG.
For 2007, the Boxster and Boxster S can be optioned with the revised Tiptronic S transmission, which features new hydraulics and electronics to improve responsiveness, and also provides variable shift programs. Combined with the optional Sport Chrono Package, the sporting characteristics of both these mid-engined roadsters are enhanced. With the Sport mode engaged, up- and downshifts are only made at engine speeds above 3000 rpm, and downshifts for engine braking are subject to less delay and take place at higher engine speeds. In the manual-shift mode, up-shifts are not made automatically when the engine reaches its rev limiter.
